50Mn18Cr5是典型的使用最普遍的锰铬系无磁性奥氏体护环钢，简称高锰无磁钢。固溶处理后，进行半热变形强化或冷变形强化，以提高钢的强度，以满足不同护环类别的强度要求；用作汽轮发电机无磁性护环锻件及其他要求无磁性的零部件。
50Mn18Cr5 is a typical manganese-chromium series non-magnetic austenitic guard ring steel, commonly known as high-manganese non-magnetic steel. After solid solution treatment, it undergoes semi-hot deformation strengthening or cold deformation strengthening to enhance the strength of the steel, meeting the strength requirements of different types of guard rings; it is used for non-magnetic guard ring forgings of steam turbine generators and other components that require non-magnetic properties.
50Mn18Cr5冶炼方法：采用电炉+炉外精炼或电弧炉+电渣重熔；50Mn18Cr5高锰无磁钢要求洁净度高、晶粒细小均匀、表面质量好等，由于性能的要求最终体现在对化学成分的要求上，50Mn18Cr5钢的冶炼要求稳定控制碳、硅、硫、磷、锰等关键元素，且对化学成分控制要求严格，杂质元素含量要低。
50Mn18Cr5高锰无磁钢用于电机无磁环护时常规锻造工艺很难达到屈服性能指标要求s≥640MPa，而普通热锻的屈服性能指标只能达到s≤400MPa，无法满足要求。该类护环尺寸规格特点属于大壁厚、小高度的圈类锻件,不能通过常规汽轮发电机护环的冷变形强化工艺来制造，高于再结晶温度热锻不能满足其较高强度要求，需采用低于再结晶温度的温锻技术及全新的热处理工艺。
